What is the difference between LCL and FCL shipping?

LCL (Less than Container Load) is less expensive for small shipments but costs more per unit — ideal when you don't have enough cargo to fill a full container. FCL (Full Container Load) uses the entire container capacity, offering lower per-unit costs for larger volumes.

What causes sea freight delays?

Sea freight delays can be caused by a variety of factors including adverse weather conditions, industrial action at ports, vessel mechanical issues, overbooking, natural disasters, seasonal demand peaks, and equipment or container shortages.

What is the difference between Demurrage and Detention?

Demurrage applies to loaded cargo that remains at the port beyond the free time allowed. Detention applies to vacant containers kept by the shipper or consignee beyond the permitted free days. Both incur additional charges.

Why do freight rates fluctuate?

Freight rates are driven by political, economic, and environmental factors including trade sanctions, geopolitical tensions, fuel price changes, consumer behavior trends, and global supply-demand imbalances.

What is a Bill of Lading?

A Bill of Lading is a critical transport document with three basic roles: evidence of the contract of carriage, a receipt for cargo shipped, and a document of title that gives the holder the right to claim the goods.
